Green Day Tells Walmart They Can Suck It

green-day

Green Day’s 21st Century Breakdown debut at #1 on the Billboard charts with 215,000 copies sold in 3 days despite not being available at Walmart stores which is pretty damn impressive — No Walmart and only a 3 day total (they released it last Friday as opposed to on a Tuesday like most releases) — I’m anxious to see what its full week’s total is going to be.

Walmart won’t carry it because they refuse to carry any album with a Parental Advisory on it and Green Day refuses to make an edited version. Wasn’t that the whole point of the Parental Advisory sticker? To inform buyers that their was adult content on the album?

That’s so lame that Walmart has this policy. Especially when an example lyric from 21st is “So don’t you fuck me around.” It’s not like it’s some rapper talking about wanting to fuck a bunch of bitches or something of that sort.

The fact that they will sell rated R movies that are full of profanity and nudity, but put a retarded restriction on music is something that should be stopped. I take a dump on you, Walmart, and wish you had a face to be stabbed.

  • awesome CD i love it
  • This seems odd since Wal-Mart is where I got my "Nimrod" album from. There wasn't any parental advisory and all of the profanity was there. I was so eager to get the album, I was thinking of going to Wal Mart at midnight but then thought "Maybe they will have it... but it will be edited." So I waited until morning. Now I'm glad I didn't waste my time. I didn't find out until last night's "Colbert Report" about this Wal Mart fiasco... and I'm secretly cheering because of that.
  • haha. yeah, i heard about this. crazy, but i applaud them :D
  • that is gay, you got a really good point on the whole rated r movies then the cd's.
  • I just saw the walmart episode of southpark last night. It will make you feel much better about the whole thing.
  • kevin
That's so fucking gay Walmart blows dogs for quarters, Green day kick ass!
  • I've noticed at least some of FBR artists cds should have one of those stickers/warnings but don't well I only know for sure Viva La Cobra(actually got that from wal-mart not edited), I've seen Fast Times At Barrington High at wal-mart no sticker don't think it was edited, I think Santi may fall under the should have a sticker saw it there no sticker don't think it was edited, and I know that Almost Here doesn't have one of those and is not edited however no sticker but not sure about them carrying it ever at wal-mart,

that's the one's I know not necessarily all I wish some of them were edited versions for playing out loud purposes
  • that's bizarre... i wonder how they were able to slip through the
    cracks on that...
  • well I'm only pretty sure they should have one for the most part...I'm defiantly sure about Viva La Cobra and Almost Here though
